Shifty Fitness Update
It’s been a couple months since an update, and I’ve got some good news. Things are working.
I haven’t lost as much weight as I’d like, but I know that weight isn’t the biggest factor. Though my weight has stayed pretty stagnent around 210 pounds, what I have lost is fat! Muscle weighs more than fat, so even though my weight didn’t change, I gained muscle!
When I started this blog a few years back, I was sitting at 215 pounds and 27% body fat. I was feeling terrible about my body image and so I started this site to track things. I haven’t done a good job at tracking, but I have kept a post up here and there.
Middle of last month, when I started to hit the gym, I was sitting at 209 pounds and 25.4% body fat. That’s pretty damn good. Lost weight, and lost body fat from 2012 me.
Today, I measured myself again, and I was around the same weight, but my body fat is now sitting around 22.8%! Hell yeah!!! I’m awesome!
What did I start doing different:
- Started eating different
My diet fluctuates, but for the most part, I’m trying to go paleo and cut back on the amount of carbs I’m consuming. Not the easiest since most everything, even healthy fruit, has carbs. I’m working on switching to a high protein/fat way of eating instead of getting my energy from carbs. - Started up going to the gymThough not everyone needs to go to the gym to work out, the reason I did was I had a friend who actively went and had a physique I wanted to have myself. I got a good deal on a 2-year membership from Costco for 24 hour membership, and my company gives me some money back, so it all worked out pretty affordable.
So far, with a good workout plan that I attempt to make happen 3-5 days a week, and still biking every day, and eating better – it’s all left me feeling better than ever and even showing some results.
Here’s hoping it continues!
